London Car Slk 230 I have a 1998 SLK 230 with what seems to be a clear plastic which fits over the spokes of the wheels but is peeling. What was it for and what is the best thing to remove is as I want to paint the wheels.

May be best to use an etch primer when you repaint, and a laquer finishing coat over the top. if they are very scabby and corroded on the inner faces, it can be a pain to remove it. Getting them powder coated will make them “as new” for about £200, and is very long lasting.
