Thanks all - really useful comments. I realised I still have a satellite dish installed on the house so I’ve gone for a freesat box for now. Very tempted by the iptv route which looks like exactly what I would ideally want…but have a few pangs of conscience. (Not the first time my conscience has hurt my wallet and I’m sure it won’t be the last!)

Like you I still have a dish on the front of the house despite binning Sky for BTTV a few years ago, and our living room TV has FreesatHD built in. The are rare occasions when Freeview/BTTV goes TU and it's really handy to have the Freesat as backup - plus there's the occasional channel on Freesat that's not on Freeview/BTTV - and Irish one for a start, which pleased my Irish wife!
