Aluminium body panels on W211/S21

Discovered last evening that the body panels forward of the windscreen are aluminium. (Everything aft of the windscreen seems to be steel apart from the roof rails.)

In terms of dealing with stone chips, wondering if there is any different treatment required in preparing the surface. Not going to rust to be sure, but different primer needed?

The boot lid is also aluminium.

You are correct that different primers are required, normally an etching primer is used on aluminium.

I noticed this too when i tried to stick the magnetic GPS antenna onto it
