I opened the bonnet to put some more screenwash in the reservoir today and noticed something unexpected. The effort it must have expended to get there! Mayve I should drive a bit faster to avoid this?

Now all I need is to train it to detect NOX levels and my problems will be solved.

It may stop you shelling out for repairs!

I don't think the OP should worry too much about the snail.
Just so long as 'is car go

Oh dear. I think that's the best/worst one. Mind you my car's a C Class; it would work even better had I been the owner of an S Class.

I keep finding gnawed horse chestnut debris around the top of my engine. It must be a nice warm place for the squirrels to dine.

You may want to re-consider Stratman. Fwiw a few years back I was involved in restoring an old MG that had been "up on bricks" for over 10 years.
When we opened the bonnet there was a huge deposit of eaten Horse Chestnut residue, along with sundry shredded detritus that had been home to a colony of mice. They had obviously tired of their stash of Chestnuts, and also eaten most of the insulation from the wiring loom, all rubber hoses & engine mounts and much more besides.
I'm not saying that Squirrels may not be just as destructive (I have no idea whatsoever) but just thought it may be worth warning you about the possibility of it being mice.
Hth.

Its normally mice or rats rather than squirrels......
