I had an alexa for Christmas, its quite amazing really

Yes. The little dot version.

It is rather interesting .... though as I've only had it setup for a few days it's not clear yet as to the novelty vs real usefulness ratio.

It does respond to Google calendar, when you put things in it, and it is very good for BBC radio, and local weather....etc

A mate got one a few months back , and had to demonstrate it controlling his TV , satellite box , room lighting , answering questions ...

The piece de resistance though was , when he said " Alexa ... do the cleaning "

... out came the robotic vacuum cleaner which started whirring around

Yep have two,

Great for morning news, controlling the lights and the heating.
