Ambient Lights E 220D (2017) Audio 20

I've got a 2017 E 220D, and I find that the ambient lighting across the dashboard does not come on. The footwells and door handles always come on when i turn on the engine, but the dashboard never turn on automatically. In order to turn the dashboard on i have to go to the settiongs of the lights and switch the brightnes from 5 to 4 that turn them on but then when i turn off the engine they are gone ... so everytime i want the lights i have to go into the settings menu and play with the brightnes...

It doesn't appear to follow any kind of trend? Am I missing something obvious?
Any idea how to reslove it ?
