Saw one of these cars for the first time yesterday in central London.
Does anyone know much about this model?
It must be quite rare as I cant find much about it on the net.
When was it produced, what is it specifications and performance figures?
Thanks...............

It's not real ...

It's the A210 and someone has taken the '0' off ...

Apparently they are quite nippy , but no AMG. AMG allegedly felt that it wasn't appropriate for it to be associated with a 'hot hatch' and wouldn't develop one. You can get all the kit for it , exhaust and what not , but it's just a 2.1 litre engine as far as i know.

This is the only genuine A class that AMG did , the A38 with twin engines . Hakkinen had one and so did Coulthard

Suspect it will have been modded to RWD

I have only just got round to looking at the link.
With the engine in the boot, it must be rwd at least, or could it be one of those '2-engine' jobs with one up front & 1 in the rear, so giving it 4wd. I remember reading about some (non MB)cars that had 2 separate engines & the underbody pics appear to show two separate exhausts, plus it would explain the rated power from small engine units. I guess the text explains it, but its all a bit too German for me...

32K engine is in the front.

I've actually only just looked at the link, it's clearly rear-engined RWD. You can see the car spinning the rear wheels up in one of the pictures, there is also no propshaft or transfer box

The A210 AMG is a 140bhp 2.1 litre... if they would make the whole car a bit shorter in height and put a 230K engine in there it might be something worth talking about!

What is the switch for in the centre console then?

Which one ?

Bottom right picture, the switch next to the folding mirror switch, it shows what looks like 2 and 4wd options.....

That's on the one with 2 engines , not the 32K one ...

Presumably it allows you to select whether you have one engine running or both ?

WE have a hardcore enthusiast member with one called "A210AMG". He seems pretty pleased. Here is a link to one of his threads: -

I drove briefly the A200 turbo on the later model (169) which I think was roughly similar performance to the AMG version of the original A class. Quite a lot of torque steer but went like stink. About 7 seconds 0-62 IIRC. About the same as an S320cdi, but felt twice as fast!

As i said earlier , it's not a true AMG , as AMG didn't want to be associated with a 'hot hatch' ... it's kit only , no engine mods...

There was no 'AMG version' of the original A class ... not in the true sense of the word , eg C class AMG versions were C36 , 43 and 55 , CLK version was 55 , etc etc

No one said he wasn't pleased with it , and i know it floats your boat with a tiny engine and all , but it isn't a proper AMG .

According to the Baby-Benz website it was called the A210 Evolution. About 140bhp. Quick. Maybe some owners dubbed it AMG?
