I have just bought an E350 cabriolet with the AMG trim. The alloys are a bit scuffed and I would like to get them sorted. A friend recommended a local Chips Away but I am wondering whether they would be up to the job and whether they would do justice to the AMG alloys. Any thoughts? I am in the gloucestershire area

Forget chips away, have a look at this local firm http://www.reinventingthewheel.co.uk/

Used them a few years ago and they did a good job.

I had chips away do a few little paint chips on my Audi coupe a few years ago, they totally cocked it up to the point where I had to threaten them with court unless they paid for it to be sorted properly.
My advice ... don't use them.
Just my view, not all operators may be the same but the one I got was pants.

I presume they are the polished finished? Beware whoever you choose is aware and don't just flash spray the whole wheel, I too just got a 350 cab, didn't examine the front nearside too closely - it looked OK, but when I finally gave it a closer inspection, found that part of the wheel where there must have been damage, had been repaired and sprayed - even on to the polished parts - had to strip the paint off and re-polish!
