The wording on that advert annoys the hell out of me because the parts ARE available and have to be for YEARS after production finishes!

I'm sure you can order the badge from the stealership, if someone stole the badge off my black series I'd want one to replace it!

I would have thought it would have been one of those items that require proof of ownership...

I have never known an item require proof of ownership, that said I have ordered keys in the past and been asked no questions at all ;)

Do Mercedes require that for any of their parts? I'd be surprised if they did.

I'd also image these badges are stolen regularly due to the nature of what they are, so replacements should be available easily and probably relatively cheaply.

Anyway, why would you buy one unless you owned one of these cars? What are you going to stick it on?

"AMG" part: A 220 817 08 15 - item 390 here. Available from Inchcape here.
"Black Series" part: A 171 817 07 15 - not on Detali. Available from Inchcape here.

Some items are marked as "theft-relevant" in the catalogue, and the parts department is supposed to take some precautions before supplying them. (Keys are an example, but Shude's experience suggests that parts advisers may not always be too thorough...)

Well I tried to get "Sport" side badges for my Vito (comes with an empty recess on each front door moulding as standard), but no dice. Only available for repairs or direct replacement.

The irony was that it would actually have been down-badging, since the Vito Sport only has the 4-cyl 150 bhp engine.

So I had to go with plain Vito badges instead :(

Mind you I could always put a nice AMG Black Series badge on the tailgate :D

Hi Bill,

Just get the VIN of a Vito Sport and pop down there with that ...

Walk around the forecourt until you see one , note down the VIN from the windscreen plate and pop back later ....

How long before we start seeing c180 AMG Black Series on Ebay ? ;)

Vauxhall have required proof of ownership for some parts, the VXR bits on a VXR220 for example.

BMW also did with M3 and M5 badges, but it appeared judging by the amount of "AMG's" on the road, Mercedes don't seem to be too fussy as long as you're paying.

Ironically they are often cheaper from the main dealer than you find on eBay...

I have a brand new 560 SEC badge, which I've now decided I'll not be putting on my car, but it was only £11 new from the dealer....they go for more than that second hand on eBay......

A c180............obviously :D

My car is Black -- does it qualify as being "Black Series" ?

We should have a group buy of one of these for Johns T55 .... ;)

We could get it in time for the GTG

Just cant believe that people have bidded it up to that much when as you said £30 from MB! The guy selling the badge must be having a field day!

68 Quid

Didnt want the AMG part -- just the black series ....cos mine is black....:bannana:
