Hi, I wonder if any guys out there can help me.

Just had the first MOT done on the Black Series (it failed would you believe) .. track rods needed replacing (90% goodwill by MB which was good). .

However, they have said that I need as a matter of urgency new discs all round and new pads. They have quoted just under £3,000 for the work.

Hells teeth ..

Any specialists out there that can help? .. for that price I can almost buy a new car (albeit a tata!) lol.

Speak to Olly. (BlackC55) - He'll sort you out.

I can't imagine they're going to be cheap though.

+ 1.... I had my drilled grooved and floating OEM Benz discs and pads all round done by Olly and Jack... very good price....

Hi nice car ! ring merc get prices for the parts then get a local recommended indie (olly) to fit them if there is a worthwhile saving ?

Let me know if I can help

Even with 40% off, that's still a fair chunk of money. Did you not realise you had a black series!?? ;)

How much is was a CLK black new, I guess its all relative?

Sounds a lot for brakes mind...how much better than a CLK63 are they?

whats your millage?

Hope you get a good price

'Standard' CLK63 AMG discs are £575.48

Thanks for all the posts guys. . will contact the people you mention . .and yeah, I know. . it is a black after all.

I know it is relative to the price of the car, but , but £3K for the brakes. . when the service was only £245 lol. . :wallbash:

Mileage is 40K. . dont believe in cars being locked away (sorry Rash lol)
:p

I am wondering though, if the dealership is being crafty and saying I need discs when I actually only need pads. . being taken advantage off because of the car.
Does anyone know the settings / Micrometer wear etc for the discs.

Appreciate the help so far everyone . . :):)

What are the first 6 digits from your VIN?

40k miles and you have tracked the car i believe so yes the discs are probably past there best i would guess ?

MB are charging crazy prices for their brakes...it seems if the car has Performance Pack or Black in the name, the AMG tax is quadrupled.

I'm feeling for you AMGBlack...I have a feeling given what I was told the brakes on my car cost (£1,500 + just for the front discs) that the majority of the cost will be parts and not labour.

I'm glad I managed to get a set of pads and discs under warranty!

I am wondering though, if the dealership is being crafty and saying I need discs when I actually only need pads. . being taken advantage off because of the car.

It wouldn't be the first time, and of course there's always the perfect explaination: "...in the interests of safety and your convenience Sir, they'll need replacing before your next service is due"

Well I have decided to "park" the black inside my workshop for the next 3 weeks and use my E-Class. I am going to get the wheels off (and that means I may clean the inside Rash!!) .. and get an independant "check" done of their condition.

To answer some questions raised, yes I have tracked the car but 20 laps in 3 years is not excessive . .either that Merc build piss poor discs

My Warranty only ran out last tuesday so maybe some goodwill is due (yeah maybe lol). . ;)

When I have then checked (by who, dont know yet) I shall either get them done or consider a different set up.

Funny thing is that I always complained to the dealership since I had it the brakes were naff .. not as good as I expected. . perhaps some underlying reason. Anyways, if I have to bite the bullet then I will. . just get an uneasy feeling that as they paid 90% goodwill on some track rods and didnt raise a bill for the MOT either they are getting it back with this supposed work! ..

I have had the car since new (3 years) and this is also the first time the pads need changing . . I dont drive with a heavy brake foot (if that makes sense).:p

Argh, rambling now . but really appreciate all the help and advice.
