Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help with my wiper problem.
The in and out action on my wiper had stopped working, so the wiper bangs on the edge of the windscreen.

I found the post of taking off the covers and lubricating it, checked all that and it is fine. The problem I think must be in the spline.

If I remove the wiper, the piston moves in and out as it should, but as soon as I kill the power I can move the piston easily by hand, there is no teeth grinding, it moves smoothly. Thats why I though it must be a spindle problem.

Can anyone point me to information on how to remove the whole unit? I can only find info to take the cover off and lubricate. I presume the spindle which is slipping is behind the sliding part?

Any suggestions?

Thanks for that guys,
Wigs 1 that is exactly the fix I need to make, it looks like it has been repaired before..

Going to see if I can get a pal to repair in his workshop.
News to follow.

Just looking at the options.
You guys will be pleased to know that you can buy the part new from Mercedes for £332 +VAT in the UK

Hopefully will be able to make a suitable repair on the one I have. It seems like the nylon cog moves smoothly round the spindle (not easily, but it does move) So I am suprised it is splined as I thought I would feel the knackard splines!!

Is a C36 not a pre-facelift car?
A pre-facelift wiper mech is about £50 on ebay or from Dronsfields.
There were quite a few pre-facelifts down my local scrappie too and (at the time) he only wanted about £20-£30 but it didn't fit my car.
Replacing it would be much easier than what I did (about 6 hours) and less hassle.
