This has probably been posted before but came across this nice picture of the AMG C30 CDi R5 5 cylinder engine available in saloon, estate or CLK versions from 2003 up to 2005/6. Power output quoted as 231 bhp at 3,800 rpm 540Nm at 2000-2500 rpm The engine starts life as the 2.7L I-5 CDI and is bored/stroked to 3.0L. It also uses the VNT GT2559V turbo.------------------- OK I just like posting pictures of AMG engines.

I wasnt aware that the AMG Diesel was available in the CLK, I thought that the only coupe was the C-class sports coupe.

You could well be right I assumed C Class Coupe=CLK I didn't remember there was a I5 version of the C class coupe market in the UK.:o

It was indeed available in the the 203-series C-Class saloon, estate and sports coupe - but not the W209 CLK.

CLK=E Class Coupe as that is the chassis on which it is based!

The forthcoming replacement for the CLK will be based upon the same generation E-Class platform, but the first two CLKs were based upon their contempoary C-Classes: W208:W202 and W209:W203.

I have read in several places the opposite - that they were based on the E Class? Weird, I'll check again! Am not saying you're a liar or anything.....:p

I have been known to tell one or two white lies in my time, but this isn't one them. Doesn't mean I'm right though. :D

Some later C-classes had the W209 front added to them to give space (C55), this might be the case with this pic too.

Te C30 AMG had the standard W203 nose. The five pot engine fits into the standard C-Class engine bay. The photo looks like the Sport Coupe variant to me.

It is featured in this months owners club magazine & was only available in left hand drive.

It was based on the 203 sports coupe with the 270CDi engine as the starting point. 231bhp & 389lbs/ft when AMG were finished with it, plus uprated suspension. not many were sold.

the picture uploaded by the OP is also in the write up in the mag. page 25

Only the C55 gets the w209 front end AFAIK , to fit the V8 in ...

Feel free to correct me but I thought the AMG 30CDi really was only available in the SortCoupe body.

I have an AMG brochure (2002 or 2003 I think) and it lists all three 203 body styles for the C30 AMG Cdi.

Checked last night and indeed all three body styles are listed for the C30 CDi AMG.

In fact it was the only pukka AMG variant of the Sport Coupe. Other models have had multiple engines.

i can see why you think that as all the press shots of the car seem to be in the sport coupe guise
