Thought I put my personal car up for a mini poll, would be interesting to gauge which one do you like better. Never thought of doing a poll, should get a mixed response 🙂

JUST MY OPINION....

But it has to be the newer one.....
Looks wise the old one is showings age but the 212 still looks good....even pre face lift. The interior of the 211 looks really old. My 159 came out only a couple of years later....the inside looks so much more modern. The 212 still looks good inside.....until you get into a 213 and then it looks ancient!!.....but BOTH of them look more classy and WAY better screwed together than any current Merc.....213 included. The 212s main advantage is the handling....the soft 211 was set up for comfort.......the 212 handles way better.
As far as engines go.....well I know the 156 has a cult following...and with good reason.....but out here in the real world the 157 is superior in every measurable way....more power (and fairly easily and cheaply taken to 700 horse plus....try that with a 156 and it a blower at least) more torque....and more importantly MUCH more torque where you actually need it on a street driven car....at low revs. And slightly better MPG if driven the same. Debatably, its slightly more reliable. The noise is the only plus for the 156 IMO....and you can easily mod the 157 to sound a bit better.
All said and done its the 212 E63 for me.....BUT....if I was after an E63 and could afford to daily it and great price came along on a 211 E63, would I buy one?......very probably yes.
But as said.... just my view.
Let's be honest....most 211 and 212 will vote for the version they own...... so us non owners will be less biased!😃

I voted “Hard to choose between the two of them” because it would depend upon the way I would use it. Both are lovely examples too, and that in itself makes it a difficult decision.

If it is to be used as a main car then I would probably choose the W/S212 with M157 because both the car and the engine is the better of the two in every measurable way.

If it is to be used as an occasional car then I would probably choose the W/S211 with M155 because I personally prefer all the subjective things about it over the later car.

I'm also in the "hard to choose" camp. Generally I prefer certain things about each over the other, but yours are such fabulous examples that I'd have either in an instant.

Has to be the 211, it’s to me the last really likeable E class design, I’m also a sucker for the sound of the 6.2 v8
