AMG Exhaust vid.

Trying to work out what’s been done to it or to do to get it sounding like that

Secondary cat delete for sure to make it that volume, but it still has the natural engine note with added rasp... unique!

Straight pipe and headers I reckon...

the M156 c class is special indeed from a design and sound perspective and the one in the video handles well too, but it is not in the same league as the s205 from behind the wheel. car magazine is one of the few magazines to acknowledge the immense chassis and steering of the s205 wagon when testing it against the alfa QV, it certainly is an achievement from AMG. I have driven the wagon and saloon 205 and the wagon is superb : Fast families: Audi RS4 vs AMG C63 S Estate vs Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio triple test (2018) review.

the rasp of the modded M156 c class exhaust is very special indeed and i dont think the 205 can quite match it when revved up as it lacks the "rasp".
IMO the stock 205 sound is great for a 4 litre (prior to the facelift which has a sound killing ppf) and other than lacking the high end rasp of the M156, delivers a low end symphony that sets off some car alarms .
worth noting the exhaust in these videos seems stock:

Problem is between the 204 and the 205, you have to spend a three figure sum on a 205 to have the sound give you that gut warmth that a £200 secondary cat delete will give you on a 204. Any cheaper exhaust mods on a 205 aren’t worth the money IMO

most likely yes re the exhaust modding costs, and the 204 is by far the better value for money proposition in terms of owning in the first place too.

Don't sound to bad for my liking :D

Had the 156 out today. my turn for the shopping run. The lanes were so empty and a couple of tunnels thrown in for good measure. It did actually sound like the one above  honestly :D. I wished. It did sound good though :D.

I don't know what's been done to the exhaust system. But I suspect more than Res and cat delete. I definitely think some LTH are on there. With the Res and cat delete as minimal mods!!!
