AMG Factory Visit 2012

Maybe pick a date now that everyone can attend and pay a deposit to Rashman or whoever. Surely if we pick a date well ahead for the summer we will all be able to work round it, just my thoughts..........

I recommend going for the late August bank holiday ..

Monday 26 Aug 2013 is a holiday in the UK, but not in Germany.

How about (all timings approximate):

Sat 24 Aug 13:
early am: Depart Folkestone.
mid afternoon: arrive Stuttgart hotel
Porsche Museum

Sun 25 Aug 13:
Mercedes Museum

Mon 26 Aug 13:
9am: AMG tour
11am: depart AMG
1pm: arrive Sinsheim
7pm: arrive Calais

Ok in my diary at present.:)

Hey Sean :thumb:

I'm easy really, so I am happy to go with the flow.

What is Sinsheim, by the way?

lol...whoa..whoa... I'm not sure if I'm up to organising this :D

I've not been before and I don't know much about the hotels over there - although Sean has mentioned the Stuttgart Hotel, presumably from a previous experience.

I don't mind where we stay but it has to be safe for the cars and have ample private parking. I would prefer if the hotel was in a quiet area and not on a main road, for example.

I only say this because I was checking out some of the hotels in the surrounding areas and some of them were on main roads.

Sinshein is pretty cool, it's a aircraft and car museum .. it has a Concorde as well as the Russian equivalent, and lots of different types of old cars.

I stayed in a cheap hotel with underground parking ... can't remember which one at the moment

Another thing I wondered about for the trip down and back, was quality fuel.

Like alot/ most of you, I don't want to be putting any 'ol pi$$ in the fuel tank

Is there decent food for our AMG's to be had on the way?

loads of Shell stations on the way .. and if not Shell, other brands you have heard of.

Was that the place that had the super clean underground parking area that your CLS was in? (I saw your picture from your write-up).

If so... I likey!!

that was the Porsche Museum :)

You're going to Germany, not the back end of Mongilia.

On another note, why would you need to refill with fuel anyway?

Hahaha.... true :rolleyes::D

Why would we need to re-fuel?... I suspect there may be some...er...enthusiastic driving on the way there or back :D

These cars can guzzle a frightening amount of fuel if you let them  :D

Its a 1100 mile return journey (from the south east) give or take so most will need to stop 3 times for fuel.

Oh, yes. I forgot, you can only go about 200 miles on a tank... ;)

Maybe you could ask AMG to build you a diesel engine for the return journey...:D
