AMG Factory Visit 2012

Oh, yes. I forgot, you can only go about 200 miles on a tank... ;)

Maybe you could ask AMG to build you a diesel engine for the return journey...:D

lol

Mine will apparently do around 260 miles on a tank.

Having said that, I did manage to do 204 miles on just over half a tank (including the fuel in the spout) on the way up to Shrewsbury a couple of years back. I was driving like a pensioner though, eager to find out how far I could go on a tank :D

I tried that once in general driving and bottled it at 762 miles.

I'm up for this.
August 24th would work for me potentially as there is nothing in the race diary that weekend. I suppose it depends on the factory and their ability to accommodate us...

If we can get a consensus I will assist in the organisation if required.

Mark, my good man!

Hope you are well bud. :thumb:

Great to hear that you should be able to join in on this.

I was having a little chat with another forum member earlier and he very kindly mentioned that he could potentially help us all with the organising and booking of accommodation etc.

I'm not sure what you guys all think about this?

It will be my first journey down there and I have not driven down that way at all before, so I don't think I am suitably "qualified" to arrange this I'm afraid.

Some of you have made this trip before and may well feel that it is perfectly easy to organise this amongst us.

However, if the general thought is that it would be helpful/ easier to have the trip arranged for us, then please say, as the said forum member sounds happy to help.

I haven't chatted to him too much about it (as I didn't know what you guys would think about it) but I am assuming he would be looking to assist with the channel crossing bookings, accommodation and tour bookings (although I'm not sure if the tour would need to be arranged by the AMG owners themselves?).

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it to you all to see what you think about this offer.

Think of it as being arranged through a tour company, I guess.

Alternatively, we could just arrange it all ourselves.

I'm easy either way.

By the way, I have so far kept the forum member annonymous because he didn't want to seem as though he was touting for business on the forum.

I might be up for taking the old girl home, were people imagining this would be an adults only affair or a game for all the family?

Euphemisms anyone

Lol

I imagine you would be welcome to bring who you like, bud.

Hopefully there'll be some movement with this trip soon.

Yes that would be very good Rash, as I would like the old girl home as well .

Hi,

I'm away a lot so I don't read forum too often.

My friend reminded me that we are suppose to go to Germany in my car this year. I thought I will check if there's any news on AMG visit. Otherwise we just go to Porsche and BMW Museum or wherever he wants to go.

I did 5500 miles in the first two months of ownership of SLK and then changed the job to one where I commute by train. So my SLK is sitting sad on its parking space most of the time.

Greets from cold and snowy Finland :-)
