AMG GT Test Drive

Looking at the spec sheet it's actually called

"Designo Selenite mango paint"

It's not too dark yet not light.. More darkish than light I'd say.

Get it wrapped. It will be a fraction of the cost and be the only one around

I was thinking about that its Matt isn't it. Not sure if there are any issues cleaning it and I would have to go for black wheels which means optional forged. I prefer the grey 10 spoke though

We have this Designo Magno Alanite Grey E63 at the moment and it comes with special cleaning instructions. I'm not sure I like it

I like it but couldn't be ****d with special cleaning. What are these special cleaning instructions?

And you sell them ;-)

Nope, never sold one with paint like that[emoji51]

I'm determined to find out now

Let me know when you do. Cheers

Right chaps, this colour decision is killing me! My lockdown date is 21st (thankfully, as I thought it was yesterday).

I eventually decided that I couldn't live with the Hyacinth Red because it's just too coppery in too many lighting situations. Frankly, it's not special enough for the car.

In the end, I settled on the Brilliant Blue, but couldn't get my head round how the night package (all the exterior trim in gloss black) would look lost on the blue car, and actually make the whole thing look too dark. I also think the pictures you tend to see of the blue car with the chrome highlights (and that lovely dotted grill) look superb so, against all my instincts to rid my cars of as much chrome as possible, I've replaced the night package with the silver chrome package :wall bash: The dealer have also agreed to replace the one bit of silver trim that I couldn't live with (around the side windows) with gloss black. So it should look something like this:

BUT WAIT......

I think I've changed my mind again  Having now done some research into a paint I've previous totally disregarded, I think a Magno finish could be an option

I'd never even considered it before because 1, I didn't really want a grey car and 2, I don't like the fact I can't polish the matte paint. However, the GT really does look fabulous in Magno Selenite Grey paint (much more so than the shiny version) and it seems you can actually buy special 'polishes' for the matte finishes....so I can still spend my weekend rubbing stuff on it :D

It also means I can get it with another interior that I would've liked, but could only spec with either a black, grey or yellow car.....the alcantara with yellow stitching :o You see, red stitching is fairly ubiquitous these days and much like when I had blue stitching in a previous Jaguar XKR-S, a different colour stitching just makes a nice change.

So, this is what it could look like if I wake up tomorrow morning with the same dirty thoughts I'm having now

Magno Magno Magno!

Looks wonderful but think long and hard, I fancied a Matt grey for my C63.

Scratches cannot be polished out.
Resprays are very hard to match, worse than silver.

On the upside, there are plenty of Matt products now from Swissvax and Meguiars.

And it does look good, not as good as the yellow, but good...

Very nice decision to have to make

;)

^^^ Well if he would be so kind to order it in yellow so that I can buy it off him then, that'd be marvellous.

Funny, I've just noticed that above my last post are conversations that exactly reflect my thoughts today. I hadn't seen these so maybe an omen!

Magno Magno Magno!

Now, I thought you didn't like it in your earlier post?

I do wish yellow wasn't £10k+ :wall bash:

Yeah, I get all that but I'd just have to hope none of the above happens. At least matte doesn't swirl so less need for the polishing you can't do.
