I'm just posting to make this thread 20 posts so you can tell us the answer
 
HWA / AMG is all about racing so the thickness of the lines represents the dopler effect and changing wavelength of the sound waves of a racing car going past the observer. First high pitch (narrow) then transitions to low pitch (wide).

It is a very clever logo because it embraces all the elements of the company and its history (and depreciation).

Post 19 (I used the exit clause "or sooner".

The Stripes are representing the sound of the racing car as it approaches and drives past. The dopler effect. It is also a homage to the design cues of the era.

The early AMG decal was a checkered pattern IIRC.
