Agreed - also sounds expensive (and not in a good way) especially when it needs that 30k mile engine rebuild

I love AMG but have no idea why anyone would buy one of these - more a box ticking exercise from ‘the new owner’, no doubt he’ll be banking on selling it for a profit in the future……
You can’t really look at cars like the AMG One through the same lens as we use to look at our cars. A rebuild every 30,000 miles would not be acceptable for an ordinary car, however an AMG One owner won’t be concerned in the slightest.
Most will be not be used much and so won’t need an engine rebuild for years, probably 10-20 for most of them. Hypercars like this usually require periodic expensive maintenance which is mind bogglingly expensive for the rest of us.
McLaren P1i are now at an age where the battery packs are being replaced. I know of at least one P1 which is about to have its second replacement (not warranty!). I forget exactly but the battery is around £115k plus shipping to MTC, fitting and VAT
I know of a few La Ferraris which need batteries but have been bought at relatively keen prices as Ferrari are insisting that F2(50 customers have the “full set”, even if they weren’t necessarily the first owner (most had one though and since sold it).
I’m told that Ferrari haven’t been as helpful as McLaren when it comes to replacing the battery pack on La Ferraris although I’m told that’s now changing. When F250s have been delivered perhaps those cars will be repaired or sold on.
“Supercar” sales have skyrocketed in recent years and that’s because very low interest rates and little depreciation (or even appreciation) has made that possible - often costing little more than a normal highly depreciating car.
However people who buy cars at this end of the market are not banking on appreciation. Buying and running brand new hypercars is an expensive business and those people buying them are expecting it to be expensive but can afford it.
I’m sure that there are a few exceptions though.
In the case of the AMG One customers - apart from the likes of Nico and Lewis - everyone else will have bought their fair share of heavily depreciating AMGs - even AMG now set a very high bar for limit series cars like the GT Black Series and One.
