Just a "feelings" question, two identical mercs, both tuned, both to the same power, lets say they are identical in every way apart from....

One is an AMG...

..and the other is a brabus.

Which is your preference and why?

(and if neither, who?)

I assume you just mean identical performance, not that they look the same? I simply prefer AMG styling / wheels to Brabus.

Fair point, just noticed amongst the posts on here some people seem to be "amg" people and some are naturally "brabus" people.

Hmmmmmm .... i am an AMG person, but i voted Brabus, as they are more extreme, raw cars....

Brabus seem to pick up where AMG leave off, extracting just that bit more power r taking the styling that step further ....

Brabus / Grab **** ..... two things that seem to belong to that machismo of being so potent that even political correctness doesnt mean anything.

Brabus made their name dropping V12 engines into a V8 engine bay. You need to ask yourself what kind of a lunatic does that and then who would be the clientele.

Why does someone in a CLS need to travel at 200MPH or more.

It becomes its own character trait.

AMG .... pedigree, history and underspoken presence. It speaks for itself !

Or some would say "taking the styling that step too far" :D

If you think like that, why do we have any cars that can go over 70Mph? why not only make Saxo's or somthing like that?

I love the idea you can get a supercar/family car.

AMG. I prefer subtle and they are much :cool:er than Brabus

Wholeheartedly agree.

AMG = better residuals than Brabus also!

When the oil pumps start to gurgle you can bet your electrons that corporations wont be wasting time building cars that are way faster than people need them to be.

Can we have a fifth option:

  • Aaaaargh - please don't make me choose between the two:devil: :D
Would happily take either:D :D

:D :D I will be hugging trees way before then :)

Is there any excess for insuring a Brabus?

The AMG is a straight forward, recognised vehicle.

Regards
John

I'm biased, have been in CV8 and K8 and the sheer performance (and, given the performance, the understated looks) just made me go "crikey" in no uncertain terms :D

I don't think I've been in an AMG, and too many C180's have been given AMG badging \ (replica) wheels that has (unfairly) cheapened the image.

I'm strangely partial to the kleeman bits tho...

This was the last Brabus I drove.

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=17836

Having driven various AMGs and Brabus cars, either would do fine thankyou. The AMGs are factory, safe, reliable and sensible. The Brabus cars usually start as normal Mercedes and are then modded to varying degrees.

A Brabus built from the ground-up (no-longer technically a Mercedes, check the paperwork!) is a different animal to a regular MB with some plastic and chrome glued to it.

Brabus styling rocks...:rock:

I personally would have a "full" Brabus vehicle with MB Stars (bonnet/boot lid and wheel centre caps) and NO engine size badging...:rock: :cool:

I voted AMG as at this moment in time it has to be a daily driver, and IMHO the AMG:

* Standard model therefore listed on common or garden insurance databases (especially for younger drivers like me);

* MB dealer in three nearby towns, whereas only two Brabus dealers and closest being couple of hours away;

* Cost of ownership is less, especially initial cost of purchase and probably depreciation;

* Resale market is limited, but not as limited as Brabus.

But if money is no object, then the exclusivity of the Brabus would probably draw me in!!

Bobby,

I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head there, the "sensible \ logical" choice is AMG, but your heart is beating "brabus".

I've just remembered I *have* driven an AMG, it was a C32 estate, and very very nice it was too, but it didn't stick in my mind like the CV8, but then I know which one is in the realms of ownership at some point :D
