the trick is to have several systems on the car
standard alarm
tracking
plus whatever immobiliser
simple kill switch hidden that cuts fuel pump
these will deter most but if a thief wants your car he will take it there is no foolproof way to stop them sad as that is

Hi guys just went on Autowatch site.

The Key Gaurd has been discontinued with immediate effect.

Why can't vehicle manufacturers integrate such systems, or at least allow Mercedes Me to disable the car?

Very worrying

Thanks. My mistake.

Yes Merc keys can be cloned very quickly . I was at a certain show where a gentlemen actually cloned my key within 2 minutes. As Gasman said various ways of protecting your car. Some of the above product are good but as it goes without saying if they want it so bad they will take it . All we can do is create obstacles .

If car criminals really want any car bad enough then they will have it regardless. It is usually the newer latest shape cars that the criminal gangs tend to target and not older models that have been discontinued.

We've fitted these. Very good piece of kit, and no it doesn't go on the ODB-II port.

Richard

Hi Richard, how does this actually work in practice and what is your fitted price on an S212 E Class.

Thanks.

Hi Richard.
Is the ghost, insurance/Thatcham approved?
Thanks

Just been told by a respected local specialist that the Ghost CANbus immobiliser cannot be fitted to a facelift C63 (2012) model?
If so, then what are the options?

Scratch that, seems like the C63 is a recent addition for this system, so should be good

A simple solenoid, hidden in line in the fuel supply either operated by remote or a hidden switch will stop more drive away thefts than any fancy electronic system by-passable by the average 16 year old geek and a laptop.
Just my opinion of course.

Quick update.
Last week I had the Ghost CANbus immobiliser fitted by Mark at Suffolk Alarms (top bloke :thumb: ). It's a very neat bit of kit that works straight off the dash buttons, so no extra fob, or any indication as to why the car won't fire up even with the key in place.

Like most, I used to think that theft only happened to other people, but since having a previous car taken via the key cloning method, I will sleep easier from now on!
