moving to the wheel and tyre place... <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Hi,

(i'll reply here instead of the PM you sent me)

I got mine from the main dealer in Stuttgart. If you can travel to get them it may be good if your ever going to Germany on business, as they will also fit them for free (as they did for me).

You can also claim the VAT back, (but of course pay the UK VAT once you drive into the UK!&#33<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>.

Basicaly any major dealer in Germany will do this for you if you visit them, getting them posted here is another thing. Not too sure if they will be willing to do this for you.

basically nothing,  but they did me a good deal, parcel farce screwed up the delivery and tyresave sorted it out for me, and I got a set of chrome valve stems and caps for almost nothing (better than the usual black plastic ones imho).

GRRRR!

no sooner had I posted then some thieving b*stard has stolen just two of my chrome caps! &nbsp; The only good news is that I haven't washed my wheels in 4 weeks and his hands will be really filthy with brake dust (left some nice clean spots/fingerprints around the valve).

evil evil b*stards. &nbsp;I have to buy another set now <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

im sick of having my dust caps stolen to the extent that dad an i parked somewhere , went for lunch , came back and we were 8 caps lighter from the two mercedes. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>

I now have 65p plastic ones and the chrome ones are in the safe. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

It would be fun trying to catch them at it with a bit of superglue!

The thought of them having to do summersaults in order to unscrew the valve with their fingers stuck solid onto it &nbsp; <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/alien.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':alien:'>

that will slow them down!

but what if they are determined and break your valve?

They're not determined, they're taking the p*ss. &nbsp; Why else would they just take 2 of them? &nbsp;I have stainless valve stems too, I don't think they will break as easily as plastic ones. &nbsp;Pics later after I wash my filthy wheels. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

These kids that do this are pros . The reason they only took two was because a pushbike only has two valves.... &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

I bet they have some jewellers screwdrivers to get even these ones off .. !!

<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wallbash.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bash:'>

I had some nice Kleemann valve covers but they went missing in a small town called Martel in Central/South France. Happens everywhere so I now have Halford valve covers &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

What I really do need are some good locking wheel nuts for my Kleemanns as the MB ones are tooo long.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Boys.

I had never had mine stolen until I read a report in a mag about a ML, the writer stated he had to replace them 3 times <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> .

Blimey I thought I must be lucky <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> . Then sods law struck and upon my return to my car all 4 were stolen <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> .

I was winging about it at work and one of my staff said why not just paint the plastic ones silver with a touch up brush <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh2.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> .

Now why did'nt I think of that I thought <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':silly:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':silly:'> .

So there you have the answer, just paint them <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> .

Mine you on the MBOC site someone asked me why I even bothered to fit them until I mentioned that the reason why there called dust caps isnt to keep the mice out <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/baaa.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':baa:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/baaa.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':baa:'>  <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/baaa.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':baa:'> !

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Paul @ Nov. 17 2002,21:23)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I was winging about it at work and one of my staff said why not just paint the plastic ones silver with a touch up brush <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh2.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> .</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>
That makes very little sense. &nbsp;I don't actually own a set of black plastic valve caps, because my wheels came with chrome stems etc so I would actually have to go out and buy a set of plastic caps, then I would have to paint them, and then when they're painted someone would steal them thinking they were chrome.

I just painted some SRS badges for my doors, they came out ok with plasti-cote chrome paint:
