Hey,

Thinking of putting an amplifier in the car to power the front and rear speakers, and the tweeters. Am I right in thinking that this would more or less require a complete require of the current speaker setup, or can I tap into the existing wiring and replace the existing speakers with after markets.

Currently run an Alpine 9855R HU and 10" Vibe active sub in the load area to fill out the cars current lack of bass - the HU has the capability to have the alpine 'amplink' amps connected to allow for one central control of the amps + volume.

Thanks!

9855 may work with the soon-to-be-arriving Alpine Power Pack amplifier - 100w x4 PDX type mini class D amp to mount in line with the head unit, then just change your speakers.

From memory the 9855 has time correction and high pass filtering built in, with the right tweaking it will sound amazing even with a simple speaker upgrade. I like Alpines a lot - had a 9812RB in the A class, wanted to do Alpine in the E class but the cost was stopping me this time.

You are truly right, it's an awesome head unit, and does have the time correction / high pass filtering built into it.

The idea of the power pack amp sounds good to me, as i'm after clarity more than say outright volume.
