I just got my car from the garage and had mentioned about the android screens and the mechanic said he fit one recently and and said it was really good, but fast and smooth when I asked where his customer sourced it from I was pretty shocked when he said Ali express !? ?! I I'd always put that website down to cheap knockoffs and items not being sent out??

Anyone else tried or ordered one of these by any chance and what experience dif you have if so

I have had one fitted for a year or so now. Mine came from Sweden as there was someone working with the manufacturer to iron out a lot of the bugs in the interface. Those fixes are now in pretty much all of the ones on Aliexpress now.

Plenty of people buy off aliexpress, same a ebay which is essentially the same thing. Aliexpress is huge (bigger than ebay globally) and has most if not all of the buyer protection. Only down side is the cost of returning an item if it does go wrong.

Few things you need to know, it is not Android 7, but 6 with the buildprop modified some more apps install. Secondly, make use you get the gen 2 models which tend to be the 2/32 or 4/64Gb models.

There is plenty of support on another merc forum for getting these installed. You have to be comfortable pulling the dash apart though.

I don't have the 10" but as long as you get a recent version as 400ixl mentioned, they are all pretty similar from a functional perspective.
I cannot recommend the Android units enough tbh.

That can depend on the age of the car really. In the older models the Android head unit is a complete replacement of the Mercedes system. With the later cars, if you get the right one then it is an overlay on top of the Mercedes system and you still get all of the OEM systems as a picture in picture way on the HU. Even some of the newer ones have some very poor implementation of the interface combining the two, in particular the smaller units. The interface in the image is one of the decent ones, you just have to make sure it is the V2 version with the Mph and centigrade capabilities. The V1 did not have this, just Kph and lots of spelling mistakes.

Car-life appears to be one of the Chinese resellers that people have used successfully.

great stuff sounds good - i will order one and report my experience

thanks guys :)

As this is a C Class I assume, you may want to go and look on the forums at MBWorld as there has been mixed success across the C class range due to it not have an Aux input setup in the same way as the E class on some. People have had to bluetooth connect and not been happy with the lag in the process when watching video content as the lip sync has been out.

I can't seem to find a seller called car-life?

I have an eclass coupe (c207) not a c class, so I'm guessing there's won't be any issues ?

OK, just the image you linked to was for the C class. Each has a different mounting plate which is unique to the car so you need to make sure you get the right one.

You should get a wiring kit which provides the two different types of screen connector and audio connectors depending on which NGT version you have. So you should get all you need in the kit. Its just then some configuration work to get it looking right and auto switching audio sources.

If you look in the C207 section on MBworld I have actually posted the strip down articles for removing all the parts you need to fit this. Basically, Screen, air vents, Stereo, centre arm rest.

Thanks I'll have a look mate

So this car-life you mention? Is that a dealer on Ali express then?

OK I've spoke to the dealer and he reckons the below one is best for my car and said latest version showing the attached picture
US $519.21 27% OFF|Aliexpress.com : Buy 10.25" Android 7.1 Car Radio Bluetooth GPS Navigation Head Unit Screen for Mercedes Benz 2009 2015 E300 E350 E400 E500 E200 E250 from Reliable Car Multimedia Player suppliers on Road Top Factory Store

£424 for right hand drive

Am I missing anything? I and do I have to order a mercedes specific camera or can I rig any cheap one from ebay to it ?

Any other input or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

400 quid for that, i nearly fall off my chair :D

My friend recently bought one from hong kong for his Alphard and it's around £100, you can buy a flight ticket with the difference and go buy it yourself :D

sorry, don't mean to disrupt your thread, i hope it works out fine.

I know lol. Saw at 340 originally on aloexpress (most places charge 550 plus) and thought I'd stretch to that seeing as it's a bit better looking option over a lower double din dash for 250 etc but typically for my car and right hand drive it's shot up.

Thing is Ive had stereos for under 200 quid before and they're no upto much am hoping this feels a little more flush / stock like it originally came with the car over a double din which I've seen and feel they cheapify it a little being a merc.

Guess will see once 400ixl confirms and I've had chance to fit it

400ixl do you reckon it's worth upgrading the above to the octa core one ?

Anybody know the best place to get one fitted if you already have the unit and the kit? Preferably in the London, Essex area?

All the Android car head units come out of about 2 or 3 factories in China, they market them through resellers on AE or limited specific retailers (car 4x4 canada, etc). Cheap ones running old Android versions and lower quality chips, RAM, screens will be around £130 to £200, medium range £200-300 and top spec ones with blu ray screens, fastest chips 128gb, carplay, Android Auto, etc., go for £380 upwards.
My advice stay away from cheap ones, they lag, crash and have naff screens. Remember you get what you pay for.
