Hello,

I have a 2019 C200 W205, and it does not have Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay. Is there a way to get this feature added?

A lot of people here, including myself, would say that Command Online would be a good port of call for advice and help on adding Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay to your car. They are based in Lightwater, Surrey.

Same issue here. Not willing to pay £300 for it after paying a lot of money for the car. Have you sorted it out? Any advice?

I called Command Online for my 2020 Glc220d they said they couldn’t activate it cheaper than £299.

If I'd paid 40k to 50k for a car, or more, I wouldn't even hesitate to chuck £300 in, to make it perfect?
Beer money compared to the price of the car!

There are sellers on eBay that offer remote activation of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for a fraction of the cost of official activation (basically, they're sending you an OBDII dongle that uploads to the car a pirated/hacked version of the firmware).

But (a) there's no way that this does not infringe on MB's IPR, (b) I don't know if it actually works, and (c) I don't know that it won't mess up your car or brick your COMAND unit.

Yes, beer money but still a piss take from mercedes. Why do they need to pinch you extra £300 for something that most head unit have as a standard feature? It just sounds greedy

I totally agree, but most manufacturers have been doing this for years.
I bought the paid Carista App for my Audi.
I could not believe how many 'Toys' I could open up for free.
When Audi wanted £1000s as options!
My point was, we go into these deals with our eyes open.
We know how they operate.
Yet we still buy their products?

I was thinking to go to the garage who remapped my previous car, asking if the could activate it with their softwares. I've been told on another forum that mercedes has built a sort of firewall to make these sort of activations impossible. Do you know anything about it?

Mercedes can be re mapped.
Most places quote for them.

Well if mappers can bypass the firewall, I'm sure it can be done.
Lots of independent places have Star or equivalent.
I just don't think any one, in this type of business, would do it cheap.
Google is your friend.
Good luck!

Was it a standard feature on most head units 6 years ago though?
I don't know mate...I bought my last car 6 years ago and the head unit had these features already activated. I thought it was a standard thing in new cars

I think it's more common on new cars now than it was back then. I suspect a lot got it as part of a package (e.g 'premium' or 'premium plus') ... think that was the deal on my C Class (I bought it used so not sure).

Mine is a premium plus and it needs to be activated 😒
I think mercedes gives it for free for the first 3 years then you got to pay.

My two meagre Suzukis (2016 and 2017) with the outdated Bosch infotainment system came with full support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. I think that MB are really milking it with the optional kit in general..... not just with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
