I bought ELM327 adapter and tried it with Torque on my Android tab. While it connected OK and shows real-time info on the dials it doesnt show any fault codes.

I have SRS light on and windscreen washing liquid message but nothing in the Torque. It says no fault codes stored in ECU.

I need to reset SRS light as it started after I changed my battery so I believe the system is OK it just needs to be reset.

Any advice?

Torque only reads the generic ODB codes from what I understand, I was considering this for mine just to have a play.

Obviously the washer bottle is an easy one, just unplug the sensor until you get it changed if it bothers you.

As for the SRS, a quick Forums Search seems to indicate you need a more advanced tool than Torque. But I like others, would advocate a proper STAR session to check it out. It IS the SRS after all.

SRS fault shows if you leave the key in the ignition when changing battery. Needs STAR to reset.

I use this one:

Autel Maxidiag EU702 vehicle Diagnostics System to troubleshoot engine, transmission, ABS and airbag systems

It is a bit pricey - around £170 - but does ODBII as well as MB specific systems such as SRS and ABS. I was able to reset the SRS light using this kit.

One note though - the non-ODBII (i.e. MB-specific) features are model-specific, and its database only goes up to 2007-2008, so some new models (W204 for example) are not included. said that it should be fine for your MY 2002 car.

I remember 7 yrs back it was around £100 in cash for "cloned" Star machine diagnostics.

How much is it now? Is there anyone in Harrow / NW London / Middlesex with decent price and skills?

Your memory must be worse than mine. At £100 you might have been able to purchase a cheap Carsoft clone (probably not even the genuine Carsoft tool).

it probably only goes into the engine module not the rest?

The Autel unit does MB-Specific systems such as SRS and ABS and Transmission as well as standard ODBII, though it is obviously nowhere near STAR.

Oh no. I meant 100 for a visit :)
