It's something we all say who don't live in England. It winds you up so easily. My mother is English so take it from me...it's by and large tongue in cheek.
Yup, the Scots still haven't got over what the English did to them at Culloden (or more specifically immediately after) 270 years ago. But it never bothers me what they say about the English, because I can never understand a word they say ;) Perhaps it's because they keep their tongues planted in their cheeks?

Well done Andy. And Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Colin McRae, Chris Hoy, Robert Millar, Sandy Lyle, Colin Montgomerie, Stephen Hendry, Gavin Hastings, ... and Alexander Fleming. (Other Scottish sportsmen and women, as well as other Scottish scientists, philosophers, actors and artists, are available.)

Aye - what would the world have been like without the Krankies?;)

I have a home in Scotland. Love it. All the Scots who ruin the image of Scotland live elsewhere outside Scotland. Which makes it really nice. Please don't send them back.

What really is funny is how those from the provinces think they wind up the English by spouting anti-English views cloaked as "tongue-in-cheek" when the reality is that they really don't care, the only time it gets whipped up is when one of the red tops gets hold of it on a slow news day.

I've come to warm to Murray over the years, tennis is a relatively simple game played intensely and it is a very lonely job and to get towards the top takes some doing and for that alone he deserves great respect.
