Circuit des Remparts d'Angoulême - Home

Tomorrow morning I leave in the SL for the motor racing in Angouleme staying over night with relatives near Orleans. Angouleme Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and then on the return journey staying for a further three nights in St. Louans in the Loire Valley with friends, who will have met up with us in Angouleme.
So a motoring holiday up and down France, taking in a w/e of motor sport whilst eating and drinking really rather well in the congenial company of friends.
Someone has to do it !!!***???

    No, not remotely interested.

    Or envious.

    Nope, not at all jealous.
I spent a few weeks down in Riberac, many many years ago - such a beautiful and relaxing part of the world.
Mind you, it needed to be. We drove down in my mate's 1300 Maestro.

An SL should feel right at home with all those rusty old crocks...

    Have fun...

I'm lucky enough to have a home just 12 miles from Angouleme -- and unlucky enough to have to be working in Bristol this week and next.... enjoy the races.. and the "bonhomie" that goes with the event!!

If driving down the N10 from Poitiers -- watch out at the 90KMH stretches on the dual carriageway.... never been down there without seeing a mobile speed trap somewhere on that road.

I have just finished putting up two Albums, under my profile, of most of the cars in the Paddock on pre-race day Saturday.......the whole w/e event far surpassed any expectations that I may have harboured......and I was excited enough. The Bugatti ''boys'' are lovable ''hooligans''.......oh for the freedom from ever having had the inconvenience of having had to have an earned income. Lots of ''Brits'' come down for the event and the MG boys have an absolute ''ball''.......I want my TD back.
The whole town embraces the event (no doubt it brings a lot of very useful income) with parking restrictions and charges suspended for the three days. The atmosphere is fantastic with the sound and smell of cars......old, new and exotic around the town......it seems as though everyone is eating and/or drinking......even the Gendarme are joining into the spirit of the w/e.
If these pictures are not sufficient for you there are even more under my profile on the MBO Forum site.......it is hard work on this site with only 20 images per Album (60 on the MBO site) but on the plus side the images are automatically ''sized'' whereas they are not on the MBO site.

I have no pictures of the SL at Angouleme because it was parked up for the duration outside our hotel near the railway station. Angouleme's other claim to fame is its connection with cartoonists the most famous of whom is Herge, the creator of Tintin......the boy within you may well remember Tintin.

    Information overload?
