Annoying Fan on my 190E!

Hi,


I'm new to all this forum stuff lol. I recently bought a 1993 190E which is in a bit of a state. I am currently tidying it up and changing what needs changing.

I have noticed that as soon as you turn the fan on, there is an incredibly annoying high pitched 'whizzing' noise coming from inside the vents. How can I stop this?

Is there a quick fix?

It's most likely the bearings in the fan. It's a common fault and all three of my 190's have suffered this. It normally gets louder and louder until it finally seizes up.

Replacing it is fairly easy, if a little fiddly.
