C63 Coupe
hi guys
only had my c63 coupe for just over a month (from new) and in the last couple of weeks i have noticed a slight noise (like a rattle) coming from the passengers side only when going over rough or bumpy roads. when the roads are smooth there is nothing. its hard to explain what it sounds likeas it not very load but it sounds like it is coming from either the front or rear suspension or in between somewhere.
someone said i could be as the car is new "it just needs to bed in". and ive had a look around and cant see anything obvious along side our underneath.

before i take it back to the dealer i was wondering if anyone had similar or ideas of what areas i could check myself over the weekend?

many thank everyone :thumb:

These sorts of things can be fiendishly difficult to find - even by the professionals. Try to determine if it's front or back, to narrow down the search as far as possible.

If you are sure it's coming from under the car rather than in it, then you could check the wheels (try to a. rock them side to side, b. twist them), bounce the car at each corner, etc. Even feel for loose trim parts or have a look underneath to see if any undertray parts have come adrift, or a pipe has popped out of a clip somewhere - that kind of thing.

Thanks Corned. i think you're right, its going to be a pain in the a** trying to find. I have tried bouncing the corners and nothing, sounds completely normal. i will raise the car up over the weekend to check panels. now that you mention it the noise could sound like that (if you know what i mean)....!?

There was a post about a similar thing on a C63 not long ago- but can't remember if it was ever resolved satisfactorily- iirc there was lots of suspension work done to no avail. [ maybe do a search] They are a hard sprung car with a large V8 up front- maybe nothing wrong but something you will have to live with?

PS This is not meant as a criticism of your car but cars with "competition type" suspension settings transmit far more road vibration to the structure than their softer sprung brethren. With the current state of UK roads its perhaps no wonder things will "rattle loose" a bit quicker. :dk:

Update... Took my car back to the head technician at the dealership i bought it from, took him around the block and he knew strait away what it was. its the parking break shackle that is slightly loose (?). apparently this is very common issues and a simple quick fix.
He said most people cant even hear it but it.
