We all know that most modern MB's are well specced with such things as doors, multi function steering wheels, trip computer, sun visors with mirrors, rear seat belts and ashtrays. All so b****y obvious. Yet the adverts published 'hide' within the reams of blurb such things as Comand, Parktronic, Xenons, memory pack, heated seats and airmatic, all expensive optional extras that should be prominent above all the routine blurb.
These 'hidden' details are the ones that sway most of is to or away from a particular car, but the advert writers (MB staff I suppose) seem to make it as hard as possible for us to pick out the important bits. I know all Mercs will have left and right wing mirrors, they don't have to list it. To make it worse, some of the photos are really poor quality, can't see details or the vehicle is far way.
My rant is a response to searching for a replacement car recently and trying to sift through the ads to whittle the cars down to ones I would consider. Some ads don't even have interior colour listed, the only way to tell, is if there is a photo.

As an example of what I mean, there is a CLS 320cdi 08 Silver, listed on V Cars website for MB Retail, have a look and see what I mean. Someone at MB needs a new underwriter, I come cheap at £500 a day!

Also, why do newspaper car ads show the fuel economy and emmission figures for the whole range of cars produced. There is a Mazda advert today that informs me that their mpg figures are ..... Urban 34.9 to 56.5, extra urban 53.3 to 76.3, combined 44.8 to 67.3 and emissions range from 145 - 110. The ad is for a 2 TS, but I have no idea from their ad the mpg and emissions of that particular model. All manufacturers do it. I suppose its an EU regulation. Hey ho!
