On top of yesterday's aka$h post, plus the recent posts about the silver E36 Cabrio for sale at Silver Arrows and the red one currently with Avantgarde, I bring you a FOURTH E36 Cabrio for sale right now.

At an Aston Martin specialist, it has 74k miles on the odometer, plus 15k miles because of a speedo change.
No electric passenger seats, ortho or memory seats and the electric head rest button on the driver's door appears to be absent.
Also the sellers could have spruced up the engine bay!

However, it looks look a good example, and personally I don't think it's too bad a price, considering the other examples for sale.

Anyway, here's the link: Mercedes Mercedes E36 AMG Cabriolet 1995 for sale from the Aston Workshop

4 for sale at the same time,I guess next year will be the saloons turn as last one was for estates
This made me laugh, the E36 was the answer to M5

Nothing against W124 E36 owners/enthusiasts, but considering how 'rare' they are there's an awful lot available for sale it seems.

I can think of a fair few W124 E36s that have surfaced on this forum alone for sale over the years - unusual for such rare cars?

For 25 bags could have atleast cleaned the grubby looking engine bay abit....

Especially when you consider the quality of the pics and the overall presentation of the website.... a little prep under the hood would have finished it all...

Lovely looking car btw.....

£24,995, ha ha ha

how about they fix the toumbestones before taking pics

utter joke of a price

For that money I would expect the car to be perfect in every way, practically flawless yet theres the dirty engine bay as already mentioned, a deformed glovebox lid, cracked footrest and a center console with 2 screws as previousley used for a phone cradle or such !

Passenger airbag cover appears to have a massive dent in it - almost like the 'bag has deployed and someone has stuffed the cover back on or shoved in a second hand one.

Yup ure right though it is the airbag cover I mistaked it for a glovebox cover

They probably took it in as a part ex, this place doesn't usually sell rubbish. Any garage that has a Helipad for it's regular customers gives you an idea of the clientele they attract.

In it's defense, it's probably the most sought after colour combination, but it could have had a clean under the hood.

Same is true of the sl60. Always seem to be a couple for sale despite their rarity. They are often the same cars that are for sale over long periods with the owners holding out for unrealistic prices in a very small Market. All of these cabs are way overpriced as were the estates before them. Only ultra low mileage examples can fetch these sort of prices. The comical fuel consumption doesn't help either! I paid a small premium over an equivalent e320 estate for mine and think that it is where the E36 sits. The cab is the most desirable though.

Im guessing these cars are now coming to an age or time in its life where the expensive bits need replacing or paying attention to, so the easiest solution is to let a new owner deal with it. Either that, or a diesel replacement has been found which can offer the same power with better fuel economy.

Ive never seen so many E36's being sold at the same time though.

i tell people that 10 years is the time when most bits will need replacing on my car and although expensive it will go another 10 years again

i think that might apply to most cars of that generation

they have spent ages taking superb pics but no time making it look as good as it could

Yes, I've contacted a some of the sales people for these cars and have asked. Apart from the routine servicing what other works have been completed, head gasket, wiring loom, water pump, suspension bushes, steering linkages. The answer is none of things!! Apart from the 33000 mile example the others will definitely need some or all of these things doing, at considerable expense, especially for an AMG example.

Buyers need to keep this in mind.

Yikes if the wiring loom has not been replaced then i would guess you need to budget for the following.
- wiring loom
- ECU replacement
- head gasket
- water pump
- radiator
- body corrosion in the usual points.
etc

You could easily spend £10K just getting the car right.

Here is another example.

Mercedes-Benz E320 Coupe' 1994 | Trade Me

None of the majors have been attended to. The steering box leaks, the rear brake disc/s is/are warped, otherwise a reasonably sound car but just waiting for the inevitable. And they think the asking price is justified?? IMHO they are just piggybacking off those that have had serious money spent attending to the known faults.

Great cars back in their day when four seat convertibles were rare and 280bhp was a lot but for £25K these days you have plenty of choice.
The E36 has limited supply, sure, but you'd really have to love the W124 to choose one over any of these...

I really don't understand the love for the 124 cab, for that money you could have a sl60 and a cracking s class :)
