Your local MB dealer ? Probably no more expensive than anywhere else, and you will get a genuine quality item which will last longer.

You could try a good motor factors if you can fit it yourself, I would recommend Timax or Walker as they are OE quality and will fit without 'adjustments'.

I can reccomend Walker, I have a Walker system on the red shed and so far it has been great, easy to fit (no fettling) and solid. Another option would be Bosal, no experience with them but have a friend who works there and is always talking about Cats and how they are produced. http://www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk/bosal/ They quote £224.62 for a Cat for your car.

Can you get some sample prices please?

Ask if they can do specials like...reduced backpressure, larger bore, twin pipes etc.

Remember diesels too please

cheers

hahahahaha

whoohooo. got the cat sorted.

Merc wanted £202+vat+fitting. the cheapest i could find was 196.66+vat+fitting.

Went to kwik-fit the guy wanted £300 for original merc exhaust. i showed him the merc prices and he agreed on doing it all in for £250.

thats really cheap, AND i get 2 yrs warrenty unlike merc with whom u only get 1.

im really really happy :)

exhaust warranty

why when you buy a new merc do you get a 3 year warranty on the exhaust..but if they fit a new exhaust to an older car its only a 1 year warranty...surely the same exhaust????????

Went in today have mine done all is now ok :D I asked about prices here are the results.

Using my car as a guide W202 saloon.

Full stainless system Single bore outlet £295 fitted,Price goes up with tail pipe design (twin oval, twin square, single oval, obround or rounds etc etc)They have a decent selection of tail pipes plus several more NEW designs have been done but not filtered down from the makers yet possibly in a couple of weeks time.

When I asked about prices for a diesel car, this is the best bit. They told me they can do a system for the same price as a petrol car!

Judging by how much I paid for my centre box it sounds like they can fabricate a back box for as little as £200 fitted, sounds good to me.

What I might do next time is buy the evolution accessory tailpipe for the A-class, which is a pair of chrome oval AMG-stamped pipes, and have them welded onto a custom made box. Those pipes are sadly quite expensive at £180, but still about a third of the price of a complete AMG box and you obviously won't be charged for a set of pipes from the exhaust shop so it still might come to about £300 for a complete stainless AMG-look setup.

B6 603 08 57 : A140, A160, A190 from 04/99 : £183.59

Might be able to get those pipes cheaper from bluestar or somewhere too.

Pluggers,

So you had a SS system custom made from the downpipes back to your existing Remus back box? What about your CAT? or did they fabricate from the CAT back?

Had a look at mine today in anticipation for my Remus box that should be with me early next week. The back box has a long pipe that comes forward right the way to the back of the CAT, the section with CAT is one piece all the way up to the downpipes. Mine has no middle silencer. Do you think they would be able to make the pipework from the downpipes to the back of the CAT (missing out the CAT for off road use only of course!), also what size pipework has yours got, I reckon mine must be at least 2 1/2 or more like 3" pipework. Where are Powerflow? Coming up to Cheshire next week.

It was from the cat back that I have had replaced,On the picture I have marked what was replaced. When I had the Remus fitted it was also cut there just rear of the exhaust hanger about 5" I think then trimed back till it fitted correctly.

They can make what ever you want as they cut and bend the pipes too suit then weld it up in the workshop. You dont need to go to one shop as they have dealers all over the place  dealers location

I wonder if this will look cool on my car,Just thinking of a caption here

"if I can find room for just one more maybe, just maybe it will look cool"

I need a full system from the manifold back and want to lose the cat, the car i a 91 300TE model. I went to the POWERFLOW dealers in Stirling, They would only do cat back for £350 inc.

I then went to the Fife Powerflow dealer who will do my full system for £500 inc. The car is booked in for a couple of weeks time so I'll let you know how I get on.

Got the exhaust done at the Powerflow dealers 'Sports Car Services' at Cairneyhill, Fife.

They have basically copied the original system replacing the Cat with another silencer. First impressions are very good. The car appears to pull cleaner and is not at all noisy although when she is opened up you do hear a different note through the system. Got a nice shiney square twin exit as well.

£500 as quoted with a lifetime guaruntee, as long as I keep the car and allow them to inspect the system once per year. I will post photos when I get a chance.

I used to have a pic of them straight out of the box, laying on someone's driveway or something. Dunno where that pic is :(

Here they are in the catalogue though:
