6300rpm indicated, soft limiter hit, 162mph on GPS and that's all it has!

My 500E needs another gear please, anyone willing to donate one:D

Dave!

Change of final drive ratio (diff swap) , or new wheels with larger rolling radius ?

Both will require a speedo recalibration but may allow an increase in top speed , trading off a little in acceleration rate .

The gearing is perfect apart from only having 4 sadly, it's just nice having this problem

I hit a gentle downhill slope in an Audi A4 doing 220mph and hit 240 then when I had the same slop going uphill the best I could manage was 180.

Strange how at the upper limit the slope of the road really makes a huge difference.

I presume he means Kph and not Mph .

Why do you want more gears ? Provided the engine has enough torque to provide decent acceleration over a wide speed range , more gears can only be counter-productive. Many of the earlier M-B V-8 engined cars with 3 speed automatic gearboxes were very pleasant to drive and never seemed lacking .

I don't want another gear inbetween the current 4, it just feels like it will carry on pulling a 5th gear on top.

Dave!

It almost certainly will, MB cars are always undergeared for accelleration.

A standard check of whether a car is under or over geared is to check teh rpm at top speed. If the revs are higher than the point of maximum power output then the gearing is undergeared and if lower then it's overgeared.
Most manufacturers will run overdrive gearing in top for economy and maximum speed is often achieved in 4th not 5th.

At what revs is peak power generated?

Supposedly at about 5700rpm, I just hit the rev limiter, the speed limiter seems rather absent or broken, which is a good thing haha.

Dave!
