Yes he does - the difference after pulling the volume switch is significant.

Whether it gives the Fender sound he wants will take time to determine, but for £34 it's a great start.
 
Wish I could get my luthier to do that for £34! My gigging guitars go in for a service twice a year @ £50 a pop.

Been playing a Valley Arts guitar for a few days - friend is looking to buy it s/h from my local place. Nice, but not my cup of tea - shredding, Jackson-esque type of guitar - but very versatile. Around 1989/90 if the background is correct.
