    Is District 9.

    Channel 4 - 9.00pm tonight.

It's a very unusual film, with a twist on the sci-fi theme.

I recall finding the first 1/2hr a little disturbing and the eventual outcome for the film's main character unexpected.

Shame it's broken by the ads.

    Give it a shot.

And after that on Film4 at 11.00pm is another good one. Aussie film with Eric Bana about Mark 'Chopper' Read. A real nutcase in his time.

I'm looking forward to the Krays on ITV4 tonight, always good viewing, went to see Snow White and the Huntsman yesterday, very good but not at all what we were expecting.

don't confuse it with District 13 in my view a better film entirely? What is desparate though is the lack of alternative to the drivel about the jubilee.

we lived near Buttershaw estate where it was filmed, the Mrs worked at a school where some of the kids rarely attended. It is definitely true to life. One of her tutor group even eloped with a gypsy boy, they left on a horse, similar scenes ensued!

    Excellent film.

    Rita or the prawns :dk:.

District 9 was great (as always). I'd forgotten the documentary/narrative style sections.

I watched it on long haul flight when it first came out. It's an odd one.

It's a thinly disguised plot about apartheid, with gratuitous violence added.

It was the ghetto, the oppression and the cruelty of the dominant that disturbed me in the first 1/2 hour.

Then there was the medical experimentation bit and the shooting of the pig/prawn that didn't sit well either.

However, I think it's better for a film to touch you than bore you.
