Hi,
Contemplating the switch from Audi to Mercedes-Benz, so thought I'd get the inside track from the real world users here.
I've also owned VWs, BMWs, and even a Lexus (what a huge mistake), but starting to see the errors of my ways. I love the latest C-Class, and think it is a fantastic car. I had considered buying a VW Golf R, but a decent spec puts it close to £37K - how much?! For a Golf!!! So I compared it the latest C-Class. Buying a Merc has almost become a no brainer!
As good as the C is, I worry that it's just a bit too big for London. I just wish the new A-Class was ready now. I'd love something a litle less box-like than the current A- and B-Class.
I love the new styling direction Mercedes is going in. (The Shooting Brake concept is absolutely gorgeous.) I also find that its engineering and build quality credentials are right back where they used to be, if not better than before.
While I admire Mercedes new-found mojo, I have become somewhat cynical about VW, Audi and Porsche. Way too expensive for what they offer and the one thing they don't provide is any sense of exclusivity.
I could never understand what my father in law meant when he said: I drive a Mercedes-Benz because I can't afford to drive anything else. Now, I am beginning to see.
