Hopefully someone has some insight on this. Following the thread elsewhere about use of hands free, my understanding is that you can only use a handheld phone when the car is parked and the engine is turned off. Presumably if/when the law on hands free changes then the same will apply to hands free use as well.
ISTR that where a car has stopped the engine itself (stop/start function) you are still restricted on use of phones until you turn off the engine.
If I’ve got that right, does anyone know how the law would view fully electric vehicles where there may be no practical difference between just sitting in the car and being in a ready-to-drive state?
