The aircon has stopped blowing cold air so had the gas recharged and it needed 50g. The machine took out 850 and put in 900 (Something like that)

The aircon motor is running

It's been on the diagnostic test rig and there are no faults so it should be working fine, but it's not

I've checked the pollen filter which needs changing

Other than that I'm not sure what to check

I've looked at youtube, but they seem to start with no gas. or the motor isn't working etc

If someone can help that you be great

Or even youtube videos that can show and explain what I now need to do that would be great

I hope you can help:)

Well take it back and see if you still have the gas in the system, did they check for leaks, see what they say,I have posted before that I always take any aircon problem to a air con specialist,it can save you pounds when your system needs attention,I hope you get it fixed soon it is getting hot .

OP , you did not say that after the 're gas' the air con ran cold then after a while (day's) got progressively warmer ? If it did you have a leak. If it did not get icy cold after the 're gas' they didn't do it properly.

My guess is if it is as Pete has just posted ,then it will be the condenser leaking

50g should not make a huge difference

OP, were you present when they serviced the air con ? They would have used a 'sniffer' and possibly UV lamp with glasses worn to suit , both used to spot leaks in the system and they would have used temperature measuring devices on the dash outlets , either hand held or analogue gauges clipped to the air vents to test air con performance.

If you were present and saw none of the above , it was not done correctly.

The system will usually work with 50% of the required gas in the system as it measures pressure to allow the A/C system to operate. If the system had only lost 50g it won’t have a leak. It is possible there is a fault with the switch that measures gas pressure and will stop the compressor running if the pressure is too high or low. Switch the A/C on and test for a live and a ground at the compressor clutch. If it is live and has a good earth it will be the clutch. If it has a live and ground check the switch as on most cars the compressor supply runs through the switch. If there is no live at the switch it could be a fuse.

What pressure is it producing?

They do suffer from duo valve failures causing the heating to be stuck on.

Plenty to think about there, thanks guys

If, as i mentioned, the car was hooked up to the computer after it was re-gassed, wouldn't it show some of your suggestions as faults?

So, this is still a problem,

There is no fault showing, the gas is ok, he emptied it and refilled it, no leaks, the compressor works, the heating is not stuck on, heating works fine, just not cooling

I would thinks there will be someone that has had this fault........let's hope they're reading this

Are the pressures ok when the compressor cuts in typically 10 bar on high side and 2 bar on the low. If the pressures aren’t right it won’t cool. The cooling fan should also come on when the a/c is on

Are you 100% sure that the compressor is working? If the compressor is working, and there is plenty of gas in the system, there is nowhere else for that cold, evaporated refrigerant to go other than cooling the cabin.

These cars have variable displacement compressors, with an electronic solenoid built in that determines how much compression pressure is produced. The compressor pulley is always engaged, so the typical visual check for a spinning 'clutch' is not going to work.

The electrical feed signal to the compressor on my facelift S211 was perfect, but the electronic solenoid was faulty. The car does not track operation of the solenoid, so when it fails, you get no aircon and no faults. Using live data diagnosis on my iCarsoft scanner, I can see that the compressor was not working as the system pressures were not rising, and the evaporator temperature was not cooling.

Just a thought. This thread may help explain a little more, and how I solved it on my car.

Martin.

Perfect advice.
