another W126 going for silly money...

Lovely though, it does look in very good nick, and if somebody is looking for a top quality126, then it may fit the bill:)

The 300 seems to be going through a revival at the moment, the good ones are creeping up in price.
Perhaps as its not the v8 it is considered the same car with better mpg and easier to work with?
All classics go through the slump, thinned out by parters, then price creep and although I dont want to pay this kind of money it is welcome to see that the appreciation for a well looked after low miler is there.

they are solid, elegant machines, i should know ive got one!

Nice car....seriously underpowered though.....

Here's another 126 for silly money.

Shocking pictures, awful wheels but if it's genuine and that mileage is right who knows?

1989 Mercedes-Benz 1989 MERCEDES 560 SEC

According to DVLA, it hasn't been taxed since 01.08.2004:eek:

The ad is a bit vague too. No mention of the basics - MoT & service history.

There were 856 300SE Auto on the road up to year end 2011, not sure which models that makes them though as there are two listings, 783 of one type and 73 of another.

Maybe that's W116 and W126?

THAT IS A NICE MARGIN!! ive got to get to an auction - only thing is id get too excited and buy 3 cars and then get divorced. beryl blue is a stunning colour.

Beautiful but without the V8 engine its like having chips with no ketchup... just doesnt work.

I certainly wouldn't say my car is 'seriously underpowered'. Far from it. It goes very well thankyou:D

Also, I like my chips with salt and vinegar, no ketchup for me thanks:p

Having owned 380, 420, 560 in the past & for the last 10 years a 300SE, I know the feeling.

While I wouldn't call a 300 underpowered, even with air-con, the way power is delivered is totally different to a V8, even the smallest - 380.

The 103 engine is revvy and low geared which some people feel doesn't quite suit the car, but once you get over that and give it some revs, it does shift, especially with the first gear start mod. on the transmission.

I do prefer the effortless feel and cruising ability of a V8, so maybe I might be tempted back into one again. Hard to justify a V8 to the Mrs when I moan about the general cost of living, kids, etc.

Not sure I'd ever say my 300 was underpowered. And besides, I like my chips with mayo, which my 300 has a nifty little dispenser for thanks to an ingenius modification of the cruise control lever...pics coming soon.
