Hi,

I need to replace the coolant in my 2019 Mercedes A180d. I cannot find anywhere the quantity and type of coolant required. Could you help?

I believe I need about 4 litres?

I currently have pink/violet antifreeze. But which one I need. Are they so different? G12+, G12++, AF12+, AF13++

G12+ seems compatible but does not declare the min and max temp.

Because they are largely irrelevant as most cars will never get anywhere near their limits......but for G12+ its.......

Freezing point (50% vol in water) -38°C
Boiling point 172°C

But its the stat that decides the cars minimum running temp and the fan (and its control system) that decides the maximum......not the coolant type. Different coolants are dictated by the materials in the engine (steel block, alloy block etc) and other metals and seals etc used and how long they want it to last. Its not the coolants ability to resist freezing that degrades....its the corrosion inhibiters that eventually start to degrade.

If you can't find the spec. in the handbook plug your registration number into the Halfords website and it will tell you what type it needs. As I understand it this is more to do with internal corrosion protection than temperature ranges.

I've just been through this with my son's Citroen, which does lose a little coolant.
