Hi want to change the standard speakers to better ones, does any remember there model number of there upgraded speakers, i know you have to get a spacer adpater for the front ,not a problem but clk cabriolet doors have 2 speakers a 16.5cm at the front of the door and then a 10cm in the same door for the rear passengers , does this also need a spacer any help would be very grateful, my car is a 2001 clk cab

why im asking the model number of your upgraded speakers, if you cant remember, i can then find your speakers/spec and see the mounting depth if you dont know........ Regards :D

Why don't you check out the web sites of the speaker manufacturers for the sizes of "replacement" speakers and work from there?

Hi have tried they dont seem to list my car anymore its seems to be later model w209 2003 on , mine is a w208 2001 model 1999 to 2003........Regards

Hmmm, reckon your right.

I searched on here and on the web and found not much of interest.

You might... have to take the cover off and have a look!!

I think the fact that adapters are sold is a bit of a giveaway tbh.

Hi it doesnt mention the 10cm spacer for the rear , maybe it doesnt need one, think it does though, still doesnt help for mounting depths........thanks for the comments

In another thread i said that i bought Infinity Reference 4 in for the bottom rear of the doors , and they were too deep .

Taking the basket out isn't an option because of stuff behind it , and i can't see how a spacer would allow the door trim to fit back on as it sits pretty snuggly up against the existing speaker.

Yep

Easy peasy pudding and pie , set off the airbag and it'll make you cry .... :)

Just do everything gently when you take the trim off. ..

Hi Howard, can you remember the infinitys mounting depths that didnt fit .Regards Simon
off to work shortly. may not reply back until later....

Air Bag what Air Bag........BANG.............. :wallbash: .................;)

I can't i'm afraid .... sorry ...

best thing to do is pull the door card & measure the existing speaker for depth, or drop in to halfords (or other) - they can usually order them in & can search by make/model etc.

I got a proper set of adatpers for the front of mine (C,CL adaptors) and guess what?? didnt need them; made mdf ones instead: much better
