hi a long shot but is there any diy mechanics handy with a spanner that if I pay them are able to replace the leaking o ring on my fuel line ?? its the 1 coming out of the lhs of fuel pump

Garage/MB specialist surely?

Can't be expensive from someone who knows what they're doing :)

I just thought id give a chance 4 a home mechanic to earn a few quid , alledgely its an easy job if you know what to do , and it would be cheaper than booking it into a garage , be easy to do if someones replaced them before ..

Alex crow in stowmarket is close enough to you

As above, Alex crow

update I stumbled across a small motor engineers today just yards from my house , didn't even know he was there , I asked him if he had ever replaced o rings on a merc and he was honest enough to say he hadn't , but he will clean up the area around the leak and have a look 4 me and he said he should be able to do the job .
now my concern is is he likely to be able to replace the o ring , is it a easy enough job to do for a mechanic or am I risking it by letting him do it and would I be better off going to alex crow whos done them before and knows the job ,,the pros of letting this guy do the job is he is 500 yds from where I live ?
advice anyone ie is this a easy job
forgot to mention its a proper unit with engines in bits ans a team of mechanics there

What's the worst case scenario? Maybe the pipe involved is brittle and needs replacing too. Maybe it's not leaking from the 'O' ring joints.

I'm sure the hidden garage are capable mechanics. Your choice. :wallbash:

yes grumpy I prob worry to much , just looks a complicated job to me I cant understand how a o ring can fit on the end of a smooth pipe and make a seal , but that's prob because im not a mechanic I cant work out how it stops the smooth pipe from slipping out if its just smooth

Hi Mike aka grumpy !!but not all the time , and others ,i am sorry to keep ressurecting this topic but i had another good look today around the pump , and i have found diesel fuel in between the outside plastic sheaf and the line coming from the outlet of the filter to the pump , also the connecter into the pump is very loose ie i can move it about easily .
Now can i assume that if there is fuel migrating along the pipe then that is where the leak is ? , but the strange thing is the drip is coming from the opp side of the pump well thats where the drip is , can i assume that where the drip is is not always where the leak is and can i assume that if the o ring is replaced on the connecter where it fits pump then it should cure it ??

Your best bet is go to mb buy a new fuel hose set they are about 50-60 pound .fitting it is a doodle if you can grip a spanner you can change them . Messing around just isn't worth it .
