Help

I need to replace the foglamp lens on the passenger side of my '02 W203 C180 but can't figure out how to access it.

I did notice a square panel in the wheel arch and un-did the 3 bolts holding it on, but it looks like it's held on with plastic rivets as well. Anyway, I bent the plastic flap out to get a look and the foglamp looks really inaccessable  Looks like you have to remove the whole under-section of the bumper and the washer bottle just to get access.

Really don't want to pay £79/hour(Western, Edinburgh) to fit an £8 part, is there something I'm missing?

Can anyone help with this, the car will need it's first MOT soon and although the lens is secure, albeit in 2 pieces, I think it'll fail for this.

TIA.

i had mine changed today under warranty

from what i could see ...

just behind the foglamp there is a section of plastic that bends back from the front bumper.

you would have to jack the car up and look at pulling it towards the back of the car as its hinged close to the wheelarch.

was a two mechanic job to do. one to hold open the flap and the other to fit it.

see how you get on , and arte you sure western are that cheap ? Vardy in glasgow are £94 an hour

Do you mean the plastic shielding under the front of the car? I didn't think of that, I'll take a look if the rains stopped tomorrow. That could be a go'er

Yeah, I asked them the other day as the lease terminates at the end of April and my girlfriend is going to buy it, so I'll probably start looking for a local independant specialist for future work.

Thanks for your help.

yeah , the black plastic undertray , should be a small section just behind the light that pulls back

Thanks mate, thinking about it now I remember seeing that but didn't want to persevere too much for fear of breaking it.

Incidentally, slightly off topic but how do you find the MB service department in Glasgow? I'm changing my car when the lease runs out and have ordered a fully loaded Volvo S60 D5. I didn't go for another Benz because I couldn't face another 3 years of Westerns service department in Stenhouse, which is a shame because I love the C-Class. Mine has been totally reliable for the past 3 years.

Still, Murray Volvo here in Edinburgh have a very good reputation for quality of work and the S60 is a cracker of a car. Glad the Benz is staying in the family as well though!!

Erm , hit and miss really with glasgow. Ive had bad experences with western too , the service manager who i deal with always seems off with me since i pulled rank with him.

For both our cars , we use john R weir in grangemouth , they are miles better and collect the car and deliver it back to glasgow. :bannana:

good luck with the foglamps , altho i don't think the weather is with you today tho
