Anyone know the best way to clean up a M113 V8 engine exterior up so that it looks original and tidy. I don't want to sand blast it as don't want to risk sand entering the engine as the engine is complete.
Just really want to get the oxidation off etc. :thumb:

Saw a Aqua blaster on EBay which you hook up to a jetwash, anyone tried this ?

Also thought of a strong alloy wheel cleaner, but would this change the colour of the alloy ?

Cheers

"Aluminium cleaner" works well. It's a mild acid, similar to wheel cleaners.

Is it a case of spraying it on, leaving it for a while then washing it of DM ?
As it will be hard to get a brush into all the areas of the engine. Do you know which brand works the best ?

I have cheapy trade stuff. Brush on, leave for a minute, rinse off.

It doesn't leave a polished, type shiny finish, but does remove the oxide.

That's the sort of thing I want. Just to look abit like it did when the car was new.

Ok cheers DM :thumb:

Wire wool?

I don't want to go down that road because you cannot get to it all without striping down the engine, and also it would escalate and before I knew it the whole engine would be as shiny as a pin

Try Alu-brite or Sonus Aluminium Restore
