This is my parents 1989 944, which they have had for 20+ years, it has only 72k on the closk and has hardly been used the last 10 years.

It has been stored in a dry garage and MOT's every year and recently had the belts done by a Porsche specialist!

My father has decided to sell it, it is in A1 condition everything works perfectly and it a fine example.

It was valeted today and thats when I took these pics.

    My questions are.

1, Best way of selling it,
    2, whats it worth?
3, anyone recomend a Porsche forum?

    many thanks

Sorry, can't answer any of your questions but that looks really nice. What value were you thinking of?

If Ironside et al can draw £10k plus for old but mint 124s/190e, your porker must be worth £5k plus, surely?

£2-2.5K why cos--- it's not an S2  You might get more if you upgraded the wheels to more recent fitment. Tend to date the car slightly imho:dk:

Very nice porker, reminds me of my 944 I bought years, had it less than 7 months and it was totalled by an uninsured driver:mad:

I'd have thought that the car's value to an enthusiast would have been enhanced by its originality. :dk:

2 good places - one is the PCGB forum, you don't have to be a PCGB member to join the forum, and the 944 section is very active and would certainly be interested in a nice car like this. The other is Pistonheads - which was how I sold my 968 coupe a couple of months ago.

Edit - I've posted a link to this thread in the 944 section of PCGB for you.

So I would have thought that is about half the value of the OP's one

It's older, it has the smaller engine and has done twice the mileage - still nice looking tho'

There are cars that as good condition for £1000-£2000 but these are well used and have 120,000+ miles on them, This Porsche is as near mint as you can get.

A friend has suggested that when I get some decent photos taken I email some main dealers and classic car dealers.

Not in a hurry to sell, it has a nice garage it can sit in, but I will be using it for the next few weeks running around in it gently.

I think if i can find someone who wants a 944 then with the history and condition it will sell itself.

I personally owned an identical car, but in red and sold it last year for £1600 with 163,000 on the clock and the condition was no where a good as this one!

Thanks for all the messages and I will upload some more photos in the next week.

Yes, £1000 is an insult IMO, it is a nice example, £4000+ id say.

It would not be original then, and to get top price it needs to be, it even has the original dealer number plates from where it was bought at AFN Porsche in London.

    Thanks for all your responses

The above is bang on the money both price wise and reasons why, If you advertise in some of the specialist magazines then you may get close to £4k if you hold out, not much demand for S1 944's these days.

That looks a really nice car good luck with the sale. It is a shame that the market is not good right now, you may be better off waiting another year or so to get top money for it....which it deserves.
