Anyone of these cars belong to members here? Incredible power in excess of 600bhp+, some even making close to 750bhp 😲

Not mine, but very nice! Although not keen on the pops and bangs... no need on this car, just makes me think of hot hatch boy racer try hards 😁

Interesting one of the stage 1s made significantly more torque than the stage 2 decat...

List excludes cars tuned by GAD and possibly other outlets, so it does seem we do have a strong community out there. It appears maybe some have not joined or heard of mbclub.co.uk 🤔

with a few more tweaks can even reach 950-1000 bhp ;)

Oh yes, how could I have missed you previous car, that was a Weistec build so I heard 👍

Nice.....but the ones without the pops and bangs sound much better IMO. The odd crackle is OK....but they are OTT and likely to draw the wrong kind of attention from the boys in blue.
All bar one of those puffed a bit of blue smoke on overrun........

Couldn't agree more buddy, pops and bangs could also potentially damage the engine over a longer period of time. Agree, the odd crackle is fine, I think they do crackle sometimes on their own though. My M156 crackles and pops a bit it's characteristic of this engine, can hear it burble more with the secondary cat and resonator delete. 😁

So managed to take a quick look at the YouTube videos for the stage 1 map. Based on these videos whdub are random dates from 2017 to 2023.

I'm lost here, there doesn't seem to be a consistency with the results, something I'd have expected to see. There can be as much as 50bhp & 100+lb difference between cars.

Only one has been mapped over 700bhp and from reading posts it's been suggested that the map was "down tuned" for mechanical sympathy due to age and con rods where as "DMS" push the limits which is wording I've seen posted on this forum when the two companies are being discussed.

I'm not in any way suggesting the craftsmanship is not great, nor that they are not at the top of the game. Just from previous cars I've had mapped, various Audi, BMW, Merc, Subaru, VW's the tuners have pretty much made the same power on each model of car.

680bhp 792lb
682bhp 785lb
713bhp 822lb
663bhp 753lb
659bhp 689lb
628bhp 715lb
626bhp 684lb

lots of factors

Dyno - different readings on different dynos
Mods- downpipes, airboxes, gearbox mods, cooling, meth, cooling tank, turbos, exhaust - all make a difference
Map - maps on cars in the early days were out the box maps, now they are all tuned and tweaked individually, so you can have the map set to what you want (safe or aggressive, pops/bang, etc etc)

good example was my last one, previous owner had it mapped to 700, then eurocharged mapped it to 800bhp (ish), BFT mapped to over 1000 at one stage but dropped it down to between 900-950!, that was all map, no physical changes! 300bhp difference in the same car!

If you’re looking at the MSL mapped ones the biggest factor is fuel and spark, some may have better fuel than other ones I heard these biturbos make slightly more power on Tesco Momentum. And these engines do eat one of the coil pack think it’s number 8 so I guess one with a fine coil pack would make a bit more power than others that are starting to show signs of wear

And another one is service I’d imagine one that’s just done a big service with air filter, fuel filter and sparks plugs would make slightly more power than one that’s 2 years into a big service and just had a small one

Try avoid dyno runs during very hot summer months, winter is better as the car will be drawing in colder air and can give better results on the dyno. When the weather is baking hot outside, car might not perform its best even with the fans blowing. A performance filter and service can help a little too along with Tesco Momentum 👍

Yes how could I forget about temps too

Hi Alps, same dyno as all the videos are from the same tuner. No mods are listed and all sttae stage 1, I didn't look at the stage 2 videos as this is not what I'd be having carried out. The map is again through the same tuner, suggested as stage 1 so I'd struggle to see how the results could be so vraoed and to which this particular forum have suggested they de tuned the map for engine longevity. Again I must add I know nothing about mapping and rely on a solid tuner to do the job so it's not a dig at the tuner.

Hi Ant, yes it was the links for MSL, fuel and spark will make 50bhp and over 100lb+ more on result. I'd have hoped that vpower, momentum would all be fairly close results but can fully accept the spark would play and Issue in particular if one coil pack was down. I'd have thought at this point the tuner would not map the car and suggest the issue is fixed. I've got the car booked in for a Surrey RR on Saturday to make sure it's all running as it should, Charlie will always point out any issues he notes. From there I'll probably look to have it mapped and more likely than not through MSL.

So Tesco Momentum is the better fuel for these then? Always stuck to Vpower but happily make the swap as we've got a local Tesco near us.

Could the heat have that much of an impact on results in particular the bhp as the claimed result is 100bhp where some have only produced a 50bhp increase

Heat will have a bearing but its how much boost the map is asking for that will affect how much hp the engine is producing along with the mods Alps mentioned.
MSL specifically ask if you are using super unleaded before running the car on the dyno. I also only used Momentum. Its a good fuel and far cheaper than V Power. I don't think any driver could tell the difference between the two in normal use.

Going back to the MSL map, Acid will ask if you want an aggressive map which will give close to or just over 700bhp or a map that is more sympathetic to the engine which is what I settled for. As for pops and bangs, no thank you. The cars just sound sick and not in a good way.

MSL have various tuners too, Eurocharged, wiestec, Big Fish and also their own, but every car will always vary a little anyway. Most of mine were done at MSL, so probably got a few vids around on it too :)

^^^X3 for Tesco Momentum, I see Esso trucks deliver the fuel. In addition you can top up on club card points which keeps the Mrs happy and they seem to have gloves on most visits. I normally stash a few spare in the fire extinguisher compartment in case they ran out from the dispenser. Come to think of it, i don't think mine came with an extinguisher, will have to purchase one i suppose 😁👍
