Ballasts do fail. Welcome to the forum but please don't post repeat threads, it clutters up the forum

    Hi,
A ballast from Mercedes is extremely expensive. When mine went some long time ago on the 320, I bought a used one from Ebay, just to get me back on the road a.s.a.p then bought a new one, which came from China, which took some time to come, and is still living under the front seat of my car "just in case ". They are not the easiest things to replace (on the E320 )..unless you have it on a ramp.
Below in the link from OEMxenons is picture of the ballast you want, MB part number 1-307-329-240-00 , BUT DO CHECK THIS YOURSELF ..and a link to a used one on Ebay to get you back on the road. Seems your car has D1S bulbs fitted... check this in your handbook.
I could not find one on Amazon that corresponds with the above part number, so confirm the part number.
A reason for a failed ballast can be water in your headlamp, if yours has water, you may need a new headlamp.

    Steve.
