I'm sure most of you know what car you want next, but there must be a few as indecisive as me and are looking for ideas or inspiration.

As I am now a thoroughly happy Mercedes convert, my 'plans' for my next purchase are along the lines of a 126 sec or a 107 slc.

I would be interested to know what your thoughts are and what you might be looking out for next.

Hi jamefuller,

I know what you mean I am at the moment thinking long and hard. I have just gotten a W202 C280 V6 traded up for my C230K and the plan was always to upgrade in Feb, but what to?

As this will be my car for more than 2 years.

I have narrowed it down to 3 possibilities.
W202 C43 V8 - My issue that rolls around in my head is, rust.
W203 C32 AMG - Running costs are reasonable and almost same power as the 55.
W203 C55 AMG - The sound is just mesmerising, sod the running costs.

I will only be using the car over the weekends. Might just keep the 280 as a project car.

I've had my C43 for a while and love it dearly but keep getting my head turned by mint w123s and s1 Ford Escort Turbos.

My bucket list is so long and I'm wading thru them slowly but surely!

Of course, there is always a chance you might sell a perfectly good car that you where bored of because of long ownership, only to find the replacement is an unreliable dog of a car.

I will be getting my E220CDI estate in Sept. but only after considering a whole range of cars ranging from S/H VW Touran to E63AMG, with Honda, Skoda, Toyota, Infiniti in between :doh:

SO... anything goes in 2 years time, but hopefully it will be a E63AMG 4 matic??

Ah! a 123 coupe. That is now on my list.

As for anything RS or Cosworth, it seems the low point for these was 8-10 years ago and have not stopped climbing in value since.

Values are forever growing for old Fords. I've had a mk2 XR2 for a few years and although not the most popular out of them all, the old girl still generates lots of interest.

I'm sure that will be the case and it is a concern, but it has to happen in the next seven months.

What to...?? :dk:

They certainly are. Just recently I've seen a couple of XR's about looking like they have been restored.

Hoping the S210 lasts at least a year or more yet, but I'm ready to replace it when the time comes with either:

4x4- a W164 ML, RR Sport or Audi Q7, as late as I can afford. Plenty of research needed.
Or more of the same - a late S211 E350 or an early S212 E350 [petrol] if I can find one

I hope to cure my R129 itch too, though Mrs ShinyF1 will need come convincing that we need a second car.

I find myself continuously browsing websites just to keep abreast of the market. Nothing wrong with that.... is there?

Next year I get to choose a new toy JSWMBO will have finished Uni and that means I will be solvent again. I'm fancying Noble M12 or Masser Quattroporte or Gransport. SWMBO is begging me to get an MB and fancies a CL but as its a weekend toy it's a non runner in my book as no manual gearbox, (let the arguments begin) I know Masser is a semi auto but in manual and on the paddles its good.

I have caught myself looking at a couple of 129's in magazines. Maybe a bit modern for me but there is something about them, I'm sure they are a future classic.

A friend had a Q7 and he was very impressed with it, the best car he has ever owned apparently.

Just have a look at the price for a clutch for one of those, they last about 17,000 miles I am lead to believe as my brother was considering one of those

Cost price £1250 and they last around 25,000 miles. If it doesn't need the TO bearing its nearer £1000. We used to do quite a few of these cars.

A W204 Estate is on my list at the moment, if I see one in the classifieds here that has been well loved by a fellow forum member - I could be tempted !
To be honest though, my car is so good, it would have to be a special car to tempt me !

This is pretty much how I am. Its usually a case of just wait and see what comes up. The last time I went to look at a car it was something totally different but I came away with a w126 instead as it was just too good to miss.

I have always admired Maserati from a distance, it seems you get a lot of car for the money.

Well my next new one comes sunday, replacement for the family wagon ML. Wanted to stick with a Chelsea tractor and looked at Audi, Land Rover (both disco and sport), Porcshe, BMW etc and ended up in another ML. Just seemed to be the best package for the money (the deal on the ML was very good)

I have no idea what I will replace my C63 with though. Had it almost 6 months and still in love with it.

J.

Not for a while yet but I love the new RR Sport.
