We're looking to buy one - no more than 1 year old - less than 10,000 miles. Probably a TDV6 HSE.

Any one here have any experience of these?

Make sure it's the facelift 2010MY model.

I test drove a pre-facelift TDV8 last year and I loved it, just wish I could afford one. :(

For more info check out the RRS forum. There are quite a few MBCLUB members registered over there.

I used to have the Full Fat L322.....which was great! Never liked the Sport. It was just a Disco with a different body. But saying that, Land Rovers are the best 4x4 by far! :)

All the pikeys round my way highly recommend them, sorry;)

Ditto every reckless sheik's kid in the Gulf states. Can be mitigated through buying one in tasteful colours and without tinted windows.

Do bear in mind that most modern Land Rovers are a set of high quality components thrown into a loose formation by Brummies.:ban: Hence the quality problems. I own a Discovery 2 by the way. The upsides outweigh the downsides. :)

For the TDV6, check out Pistonheads and disco3.co.uk for more information. I think my gearbox specialist said to avoid the manuals like the plague.

From what I've heard from two former owners of TDV6s, it's quicker to walk!

Thanks for the replies. I've driven one and I like it - but I won't be using it as a daily driver. I'm using the C63. SWMBO wants the RR Sport. Sorry - but I'm not going to argue with her. She let me buy a C63.

You must be thinking of the 2.7 TDV6, which I agree was underpowered. The new V6 is much better than the one it replaced.

Figures for 3.0 TDV6

Engine size : 2993cc
Cylinders: 6
0-60 mph: 8.8 s
Power: 241 BHP
Torque: 600 Nm 443 Ib-ft

They must be better now but I had one of the first in June 2005. It was so infuriating, I traded it in for a Vogue after 6 months. I specified over £16,000 worth of options but ended up being scared to use most of them, such were the electrical problems. I treated it very gently and never so much as mounted a kerb so it is hard to fathom how these things are expected survive the rigours of off-roading. The original (2.7) Diesel was fabulously smooth though; much more so even than the X5 3.0d I traded in. The latest ones are said to be significantly better, so you should have no issues there. Just watch the build quality.

I've almost been tempted into a new one this year and have to say that superficially they feel many, many times better now. My car never felt like the £50,000 car it ended up being. The salesman admitted that the early ones were under-developed. Check out RRSPORT.CO.UK

Was in one just the other day actually. Very impressive indeed, surprisingly rapid and frugal, no sense of speed in it either, was always unintentionally committing serious road crime in it!! Handles and stops well too:)

Make sure she can open/close the tailgate and reach in to get her shopping.

Honestly, I'm not trying to sound patronising, it's a genuine concern some owners have.

Make sure you don't get an Overfinch badge on the back or people wil think you are a footballer.
